Booking downspout flushing: what to ask for

Ask whether it is bundled

Some companies fold downspouts into a standard visit and others list them as an add-on per pipe. Neither is wrong, but you should know which you are getting, and we confirm that on the call. A house with six or eight downspouts can see a real difference between the two approaches in total cost.

Ask what happens if a pipe will not clear with water alone. A snake or a disconnected elbow may solve it; sometimes it needs a different trade. The answer tells you how experienced a company is.

Proof that it works

The simple test is water in, water out. Running a hose at the top and seeing flow at the bottom shows the pipe is open. A short video clip or a quick walk-around works as well.

Look at where the water lands. If it pours beside the slab, ask about an extension or splash block. If a buried drain line takes it, ask whether anyone can tell if that line is open. Checking it is a separate service from flushing the pipe, and not every company offers it.

Where on the property to point them

Name the corner that overflows first. That is almost always the downspout with the problem. Tell us about low spots, a lakeside lot, or a neighbour's yard that gets your runoff. The city runs from roughly 64 feet in elevation near Lake Apopka to about 222 feet in the southwest, so what counts as a drainage problem depends heavily on where you live.
